Cavalry had the M1 and M2 Combat Cars. The light tanks had twin turrets, one mounting a. The Combat Cars had a single turret mounting both machine guns. The last in the series was the M2A4 which mounted a 37mm gun in the turret with 5 machine guns 1 mounted coaxially and the remaining 4 mounted in the hull. The M3 included many of the features of the M2A4, but had increased armour protection from 10mm to 51mm. Other changes included removing the vision slits from the sides of the turret and a strengthened rear engine deck.

Light tank — about 13, built Origins: Soon, it became clear that a new model, which could be favorably compared to the European models, had to be studied for mass production. This was in , and became the forerunner of all light tanks to come. None of the M1s built saw action, but were used as training machines. The last M1A1 version was equipped with a 37 mm 1.

World of Tanks on Console — KNOW YOUR WAR! The M5 Stuart entered production in April By June a total of 10, vehicles in two variants had been produced.

Infantry Support Tank History www. Later on, reciprocating engines burning fossil fuels were found able to propel armored boxes on tracks that could rumble over mud, trenches, wire and overcome enemy firearms, this invention was called the “tank”. The tank, the brainchild of Royal Engineer Lieutenant-Colonel Edwin Swinton, had first appeared on the battlefields of the First World War as a combat engineer’s tool for breaching the German defensive fortifications on the stalemated Western Front.

It was felt that if Soldiers, armored only with cloth fatigues, could not do the job, perhaps a tracked, steel-armored “engine of war” could. After all, specialized assault engineering equipment had been used in siege warfare to breach hostile fortifications since antiquity by Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar indeed, back to Ashurnasirpal II and the Assyrians. British General Francis Tuker was in North Africa, the Far East and Italy in WW2 and suffered from a lack of siege engine capability resulting in bloody stalemates which he wrote about in his masterpiece: These first tanks were “sapper vehicles”, frequently crewed and commanded by combat engineer personnel.

They were designed to breach barbed wire obstacles, employ fascines an ancient engineer implement for filling in gaps and “bust” hostile bunkers by direct-fire. They were not intended to “joust at tournament” with other tanks, rather they were “battlefield bullies” whose mission was to destroy anything that held up an infantry advance. However, there is an even greater miscalculation which has placed us at the dawn of the 21st century in an even more precarious position, where the viability of ground maneuver and the survival of the United States is now in question: Army made a fatal mistake in by failing to fire Chief of Cavalry General Herr who wanted to stick to animal horses and instead created a work-around non-battlefield functional “Armor” branch that is neither Combat Engineers nor Cavalry.

The ultimate cost may be the survival of the United States.

On one hand, it had several superior characteristics to its predecessor, the Light Tank M3. Some elements of the design were a definite step forward. For example, the Americans began to use welding to assemble it.

Feb 16,  · M5 Matchmaking – posted in General Discussion: I tried to find some info on this but didnt find it anywhere, so now Im here to ask the experts. Does the M5 see high tier matches like the Chafee. I ask because for the first time in 48 games I was in a tier 8 match. Ive never been beyond a 2 tier difference before.

These are just some of the armored vehicles the community thinks are the worst tanks in World of Tanks. M5 Stuart The M5 Stuart is perfect for people who want to fire five rounds in mere seconds and have almost all of them miss. As far as light tanks go, the M5 Stuart is one of the worst. For those that are blissfully unaware, the M5 Stuart is a United States Tier 4 Light tank that offers tankers a completely useless gun to use.

Instead of letting you aim and fire one shell at a time, this gun spurts out all five rounds at once. The chances of hitting something square in the hull with all five rounds is so minimal, that when it does finally happen, the joy you receive from it will almost be worth the misery of missing and having to reload. Not to mention the M5 Stuart currently receives scout matchmaking, meaning it can see up to Tier 7 battles.

It used to have a derpgun , which made it playable, but it ended up being removed. Now, the M5 Stuart has one of the worst penetration values out of all Tier 4 tanks as well as awful alpha damage. The M5 Stuart is truly one of the worst tanks in World of Tanks. Out of all his gaming-related passions, collecting N64 games, speedrunning, and Souls games rank among the most important.

People grind to a tier 5 light and still have no idea how to use a light. If you are using a light tank, you use your own discretion. People say suicide scouting is ineffective and selfish, this is not always the case and I will be going over that. You are not a regular tank.

Sep 27,  · M5 has hp for a 15 ton tank while the A has hp for an 18 ton tank. This gives the A a much better hp/ton and the acceleration and ability to climb hills clearly favors the A Bottom line, if you like the M5, you will probably like the A better.

Aircraft Ammunition belt types Currently there are seven principal types of ammunition in-game, featuring slightly different shell types depending on nation: Universal ammunition is generally suitable for any engagement. Air Targets ammunition is used for destroying air targets more effectively and will often prove itself useful against non-armored ground units like trucks and MG emplacements. Tracer ammunition is useful for newer players, because it allows you to see where your shots are travelling more easily than other ammunition belts, allowing for easier aiming.

This ammunition type generally does little damage on armor of 20mm or greater, however some nations’ machine gun rounds have very dangerous incendiary tracer belts, e. The Night belt is on the right. Night ammunition is a variation of tracer ammunition where the tracer isn’t as bright, to help prevent flash blindness and preserve the pilot’s night vision. Night battles are rare in War Thunder, but once in it, the usual tracer rounds shine bright like lasers in the sky, showing every pilot the location of a dogfight.

A severe disadvantage in Realistic and Simulator mode. Ground Targets ammunition is recommended for killing ground units, or more heavily armored aircraft,as it features mostly armor piercing rounds which more effectively defeat armor than other shell types. Armored Targets ammunition is almost always the highest penetrating belt available for a plane. It is best used by bombers when defending their rear, as the front side of enemy planes is usually the thickest, meaning that some ammunition does far less damage.

The m5 stuart needs a buff

It has been disassembled, cleaned and all fluids topped off. This tank has been zero timed and runs fantastic. It is so clean – you could eat off the floor! The ISV is designed to respond intuitively to side and underbody mine blast.

The first tanks of the M5 series were produced in April , and a new modification, the M5A1, was preferred over other variants. After the M24 Chaffee was developed, the M5A1 tanks were deemed obsolete and were exported to other countries, including China.

I will stop being a D-Bag and I will actually contribute something here. No really, going to add to the discussion and I am not going to be mean or snarky or anything. Azyur, From what I can tell from your OP and from your other posts is that the reason you think Tier 4 light tanks should not be in high tier matches is because they can be one shotted, they can not reliably do damage to the high tier tanks, and one on one they can not take any of the upper tier tanks.

Is my assessment of your opinion correct? Assuming my understanding of you opinion is correct, let me present my counter-point, and my opinion as to why Tier 4 lights belong in the high tier battles. To present my point I am going to start with all the things we agree on: Tier 4 lights can not take damage from high tier tanks. Tier 4 lights can not do much, if any, damage to high tier tanks.

The Americans manufactured the gun in large numbers after its adoption, building 1, units before the end of World War I. However, the need for a tank gun was in high demand after the German Blitzkrieg tactics showed that their current tank inventory was insufficient. Thus, the gun that would become the 75 mm gun was derived from the 75 mm Gun M Service The 75 mm gun was first used as the M2 variant mounted onto the M3 Lee on a sponson mount.

This was an interim design due to the lack of turret able to mount the gun. The 75 mm gun greatly benefited the Allies due to two reasons.

For the first time I have used free XP to skip four entire tiers, not because I need clan wars tanks, I already have 12 of those, but simply because I don’t want .

Common measurements, and their respective conversions, are shown when possible. Authored by Dan Alex. The vehicle’s design was influenced by the preceding M2 Light Tank product and retaining some of its established qualities including use of a 37mm main gun, a four-man crew, and road speed. Pressed into wartime service, it fared well enough during the early-going when used as an infantry support vehicle or fast scout but was wholly outmatched by medium-class tanks in short order.

The M5 “Stuart” detailed elsewhere on this site became a more evolved M3 with its paired Cadillac engines and new turret. While the M3 form was eventually given up as soon as , the M5 continued the Stuart legacy until it too was replaced by the M “Chaffee” light tank. The M3 Stuart was made possible by work conducted during the post-World War 1 years. This culminated in development of small, active combat systems for use in infantry support actions using a tracked chassis with machine gun armament.

This gave rise to the “M1 Combat Car” which was then followed into service by the cannon-armed M2. Both designs appeared during the s. It was only the rapid expansion of German ground forces in their takeover of Europe during that serious thought was given to a successor for the M2 as it now proved an obsolete machine.
